Our Services
Home inspections can help you buy or sell your home with confidence.
As a trained professional with an extensive construction background, I'll provide invaluable help in turning you into
a knowledgeable consumer.
My inspection services include:
Real Estate Buyer Inspection
In both new and older homes, the best way to ensure that you are well informed about the strengths and weaknesses
of a property is to have a professional home inspection. With my experience and training, I can identify problem areas both
small and large that may have been overlooked by the previous owners and identify those which require immediate attention.
See our Inspection Overview for more details.
New Home Inspection In a new home, the quality of construction is often
not what it used to be some years ago, therefore many buyers have independent reviews of their properties during various stages
of the construction process, including slab, frame, and final inspection. This relatively inexpensive inspection protects
your purchase, prevents unpleasant surprises, and ensures the quality home that you’ve dreamed about.
One-year
Warranty Inspection Most builders provide a one-year warranty for new construction. Generally during this period
of time the buyer develops a "punch list" of corrections for the contractor to repair under the warranty coverage.
Some defects will not be obvious to the untrained eye. It is prudent to obtain my home inspection list of items that will
most likely be repaired by your builder at no cost to you. You will be reassured knowing that potential problems were addressed
before they grew into something that could cost you a great deal down the road.
Sellers Inspection Whether you are selling your home on your own or using a realtor, it’s always a prudent idea to have a professional
home inspection. All homes have strengths and weaknesses which I can bring to your attention. Having knowledge of any
deficiencies, or knowing there are no problems, will help you decide on a realistic obtainable price for your property potentially
cutting down on the time it takes to close the deal. See our Inspection Overview for more details.
Commercial Inspection I
provide my services for many types of multi-family and non-residential buildings. While most firms only perform general property
condition assessments, we provide thorough and detailed evaluations of the structure, roofing, fire safety, access, flatwork,
grading and drainage, plumbing, and electrical and HVAC systems.
Single Item Inspection At
times there arises a need for just a single item to be evaluated. Examples being, extent of termite damage, foundation walls,
water intrusion in basements. If you have owned your home for a long time, a home inspection can identify problems in the
making and recommend preventive measures, which might avoid costly future repairs.
Historic Home Inspection Historic homes need special consideration. Having done extensive work and study on historic structures these are
one of my favorite inspections. I will evaluate the current condition and determine the remaining service life of major systems,
and their adequacy in supporting your ongoing needs. The potential problem areas will be explained and how to keep the building
maintained. We will assess the energy efficiency of the home and its systems, and identify any areas of potential health
concerns, such as asbestos and lead paint.
Energy Improvements The cost of climate control
in our homes is constantly increasing. Is your home as efficient as you think it is? We can help you determine where energy
improvements could be made. Older houses generally can be greatly improved. Environmental Hazards Our job as your professional home inspector is to alert you, to the extent possible, to unknown problems and potential
environmental hazards in your current or potential house. Ours is a non-invasive visual inspection of your property which
can alert you to possible problems. Here again is a field I have hands on experience in having been in charge of managing
projects that included asbestos abatement and hazardous material clean up. See our Environmental Hazards page for more information.
